BTV/1 – USB-glass fiber converter – Self-powered

0,00

BTV/1 is an industrial optical-electrical converter, USB to glass optical fiber with Bayonet connector, 5 V-self-powered via Type A USB port.

On the PC, the USB device is seen as a RS232 port (VCP, Virtual COM Port), and it does not need any DIP switch. This USB-fiber serial converter is Full Duplex and it automatically detects the transmission data rate up to 250 kbps, so it can be easily installed in any new or existing network.

The Operating System should automatically detect the device and install the necessary drivers, which can also be downloaded here.

Description

BTV/1 is an industrial optical-electrical converter, USB to glass optical fiber with Bayonet connector, 5 V-self-powered via Type A USB port. It can be used to allow a PC to communicate with an optical fiber serial network. This converter is powered via the Type A USB, so there is no need to use an external power supply. The Operating System should automatically detect the device and install the necessary drivers, which can also be downloaded here. Use cases

USB converters are typically used to allow the communication of a PC with a serial network via optical fiber, or to increase the transmission distance. In a heavily disturbed network, such as industrial environment, it is good practice to integrate two or more optical-electrical converter to guarantee signal integrity. Furthermore, there are environments where electrical devices are strictly forbidden, such as pools, saunas, fire-risk buildings, so optical fiber is mandatory.

Versatility

USB-serial converters are available also for other types of optical fiber, with different combinations of serial standard, or with other connectors. BTS/1 comes with synthetic optical fiber with screw connector. BLC/1 and BMC/1 converters for example use 3-pins Mini XLR, with isolated and non-isolated RS485, respectively. Industrial serial converters BFM/1 and BFC/1 work with RS422 serial standard, with screw terminals or 5-pins Mini XLR connector. Every combination of serial standard, optical fiber, and power supply, is however available, while special requests (such as higher data rates) can be made via the contact form.
