TVV/1F – Glass fiber RS422 repeater – Low voltage

0,00

TVV/1F is an industrial glass optical fiber repeater with Bayonet connector and RS422 output, powered by a low voltage supply.

It accepts a wide range of AC and DC voltages, and it is completely Plug&Play, since it does not need any driver nor DIP switch. This optical fiber serial repeater is Full Duplex and it automatically detects the transmission data rate up to 250 kbps, so it can be easily installed in any new or existing network.

Thanks to its compact 2-module DIN rail housing, it can be easily mounted in an electrical panel.

Description

TVV/1F is an industrial glass optical fiber repeater with Bayonet connector and RS422 output, powered by a low voltage supply. It can be used to increase the transmission distance of a serial communication, or to isolate different branches of a network. Thanks to its compact 2-module DIN rail housing, it can be easily mounted in an electrical panel.

Working principle

TVV/1F is composed of a master optical section, where the received signal is repeated to the slave optical section. The signal is simultaneously converted and transmitted to the slave RS422 electrical section. Any response packet received from the slave terminals is transmitted back to the master terminals. However, the response packets are not converted by the slave RS422 electrical section.

Use cases

Optical repeaters are typically used to integrate a section of optical fiber in a RS422 low voltage network, in order to increase the transmission distance. They isolate the different branches of a network from electromagnetical interferences (EMI) and voltage surges, like the different floors of a hotel, or various branches of a solar power system. Electromagnetical interferences are fairly common in these environments, so it is good practice to integrate two or more optical-electrical converter to guarantee signal integrity. Furthermore, there are environments where electrical devices are strictly forbidden, such as pools, saunas, fire-risk buildings, so optical fiber is mandatory.

Versatility

Optical-electrical serial repeaters are available with different combinations of serial standard and optical fiber, or as simple converters. TSS/1F and TQQ/1F repeaters for example accept synthetic optical fiber with screw connector, or synthetic optical fiber with VersaLink connector, respectively. TVV/1R and TVV/1M are suitable for different serial standards, that is RS232 and RS485. Industrial serial converter CFM/1V can be used to terminate an optical bus. Every combination of serial standard, optical fiber, and power supply, is however available, while special requests (such as higher data rates) can be made via the contact form.
