CMP/1Q – RS485-synthetic fiber converter – Mains voltage

0,00

CMP/1Q is an industrial optical-electrical converter, RS485 to synthetic optical fiber with Versatile Link connector, powered by mains voltage 230 V supply.

It accepts the standard 230 V mains voltage, and it is completely Plug&Play, since it does not need any driver nor DIP switch. This RS485 serial converter is Half Duplex and it automatically detects data direction and transmission data rate up to 40 kbps, so it can be easily installed in any new or existing network.

Thanks to its compact 2-module DIN rail housing, it can be easily mounted in an electrical panel.

Description

CMP/1Q is an industrial optical-electrical converter, RS485 to synthetic optical fiber with Versatile Link connector, powered by mains voltage 230 V supply. It can be used to increase the transmission distance of a serial communication, or to isolate different branches of a network. Thanks to its compact 2-module DIN rail housing, it can be easily mounted in an electrical panel.

Use cases

Optical-electrical converters are typically used to integrate a section of optical fiber in a RS485 mains voltage network, in order to increase the transmission distance. They isolate the different branches of a network from electromagnetical interferences (EMI) and voltage surges, like the different floors of a hotel, or various branches of a solar power system. Electromagnetical interferences are fairly common in these environments, so it is good practice to integrate two or more optical-electrical converter to guarantee signal integrity. Furthermore, there are environments where electrical devices are strictly forbidden, such as pools, saunas, fire-risk buildings, so optical fiber is mandatory.

Versatility

Optical-electrical converters are available with different combinations of serial standard and optical fiber, or powered by AC and DC low voltage. CMP/1S and CMP/1V converters for example accept synthetic optical fiber with a screw connector, or glass optical fiber with Bayonet connector, respectively. CFP/1Q and CRP/1Q are suitable for different serial standards, that is RS422 and RS232. Industrial serial converter CMM/1Q is functionally identical to CMP/1Q, but it is powered by AC and DC low voltage. Every combination of serial standard, optical fiber, and power supply, is however available, while special requests (such as higher data rates) can be made via the contact form.
