PMLP/1 is an industrial 560 V-isolated RS485 repeater, powered by mains voltage 230 V supply.
It accepts the standard 230 V mains voltage, and it is completely Plug&Play, since it does not need any driver nor DIP switch. Both the non-isolated RS485 and the 560 V-isolated RS485 are Half Duplex. The RS485 serial repeater automatically detects data direction and transmission data rate up to 250 kbps, so it can be easily installed in any new or existing network.
Thanks to its compact 2-module DIN rail housing, it can be easily mounted in an electrical panel.
Description
PMLP/1 is an industrial 560 V-isolated RS485 repeater, powered by mains voltage 230 V supply. It can be used to isolate two sections of a heavily disturbed serial communication, or to regenerate a signal in case of long distance communication. Thanks to its compact 2-module DIN rail housing, it can be easily mounted in an electrical panel. It accepts the standard 230 V mains voltage, and it is completely Plug&Play, since it does not need any driver nor DIP switch. Both the non-isolated RS485 and the 560 V-isolated RS485 are Half Duplex. The RS485 serial repeater automatically detects data direction and transmission data rate up to 250 kbps, so it can be easily installed in any new or existing network.
Use cases
Serial repeaters are typically used to regenerate the signal in a RS485 low voltage network, and isolate a disturbed device or section at the same time. Electromagnetical interferences (EMI) are fairly common in industrial environments, so it is good practice to isolate different sections of a serial RS485 bus. Isolation protects device against possible voltage surges or electromagnetical interferences, but guarantees also signal integrity. In case of heavy electromagnetical interferences, a section of optical fiber is recommended. Furthermore, optical fiber guarantees perfect electrical isolation in case of voltage surges or lightnings.
Versatility
RS485 560 V-isolated serial repeater is also available powered by AC and DC low voltage, or with optical fiber regeneration. Industrial serial repeater PML/1 is functionally identical to PMLP/1, but it is powered by AC and DC low voltage. Alternatively, TSS/1M and TVV/1M optical repeaters with RS485 output are availabe, with synthetic and glass fiber, respectively. TSS/1R and TVV/1F use different serial standards, namely RS232 and RS422, with different combination of optical fibers. Other combinations of serial standard, optical fiber, and power supply, are however available, while special requests (such as higher data rates) can be made via the contact form.
